In exchange for unpaid bills, Wright designed a new Mayan inspired warehouse for German. The Duncan House is one of eleven modest Usonian homes that were prefabricated by a Wisconsin builder, Marshall Erdman. Also known simply as the Frank Lloyd Wright House, the Weltzheimer-Johnson House is the first of nine Usonian homes to be built in Ohio, and the only non-Californian Usonian to use redwood. Wright modified the typical proportions of this three-bedroom Usonian homes for Louis Penfield’s house to accommodate the artist and schoolteacher’s six-foot, eight-inch frame.

Rawling destroyed this Lloyd Wright house to build a "Wright revisited" (as in Frank, not Lloyd), designed by CW Architecture, bottom photo. The Howard K. Greer House, 9200 Haskell Avenue, North Hills CA. Charles A. Maisch was the builder. Lloyd Wright designed additions to the house again in 1942 and 1949.

Weber originally hired Frank Lloyd Wright to design the house but he was too busy with work on other commissions, including the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo and the Hollyhock House. The long-term collaboration between the Hannas and Wright resulted in an unprecedented design based on hexagonal geometry. This is the first and best example of Wright’s innovative hexagonal design. The 1.5-acre site ultimately included a guesthouse, hobby shop, storage building, double garage, carport, breezeway and garden house. In 1975, having occupied the house for 38 years, the Hannas donated the property to Stanford University. It underwent extensive restoration following an earthquake in 1989 and reopened to the public in 1999. The George M. Dell house, 840 Hanley Avenue, Los Angeles CA. A house was later built at this address by the Dell family, but it was not by designed by Wright. The Harold Swann House, Hope Ranch, Santa Barbara CA. Harwell Hamilton Harris designed a house for them in 1938, also unbuilt. The Jascha Heifetz Studio, 1520 Gilcrest Drive, Beverly Hills CA. The largest collection of Lloyd Wright buildings in the United States was built between 1946 and 1957 for the Institute of Mentalphysics near Joshua Tree CA. Throughout his life, his work was constantly overshadowed and compared to his father's, which is unfortunate as Lloyd's work easily stands on its own. Had he been just a student of FLW, rather than his son, Lloyd's fame would have been significantly greater. Russell Kraus, after reading a newspaper article on Wright’s affordable homes, commissioned Wright to build what would be one of his last Usonian houses.

It is not currently available for tours (although you might stumble upon an out-of-date page on the USC website that suggests otherwise). You can take a look at it and see more drawings at Wikiarquitectura, and you can see part of it from the street. The Freemans lived in the house from the 1920s virtually until 1986 when Harriet Freeman donated it to the University of Southern California. According to the USC School of Architecture (who now own the property), the Freeman House is among Wright's most interesting and enchanting small residences. Some people say its living room is one of his best rooms anywhere. The Hannas thought the house would cost $15,000 and ended up with a price tag of $37,000.
Wright’s Usonian Period
The horizontal modulation established in the walls is also used to define the position of the window crosspieces and balconies, as well as the appearance of shelves on the interior walls. The absence of internal masonry walls allows more flexibility in case the spaces needed to be modified in the future. The rooms are grouped around the contours of the house, forming spaces that slowly reveal themselves.
